Nathalie and Barbara entering the Grand Stable of the Chateau deVersailles
Nathalie treated us to an amazing performance of dressage, fencing, dance and music at the King's stable. The cream-colored Lusitanian horses, whose "Baroque beauty and grace were the glory of Versailles in the 18th Century", according to the book I bought, were magnificent. And, smart! In the final act of the show, six or eight horses performed, without riders, in a choreographed routine, in which they, among other things, played, reared, and chased each other, in pairs and as a group. How in the world did they train them to do that?
