Oh, please

Death of Marat, painted by my favorite and least favorite artist, Jacques-Louis David.  His works are mind-blowing, to use an old term.  I won't start in on David right now except to say that he depicted Marat in an idealized fashion, complete with a fake letter in his hand to a fictional woman whose husband had died a patriot.  Google The Intervention of the Women of Sabine for my favorite piece.  I'll never forget the first time I saw it, with my mother and Micah, at the Louvre.  My mother knew his works and French history, which, as I've said, is how I became crazy.
