Jamestown Rediscovery
The Jamestown Rediscovery project is Amazing! Katherine and I didn't have enough time to see it at the leisurely pace we'd have liked but what we did see will keep me busy pondering until we can get back there again. I just can't get over being able to stand on the shore of the James River and see the same view that the colonists saw. Since the 1994 discovery of the original fort, archeologists have dug up hundreds of thousands of artifacts - from straight pins to armor. They are working on a well right now, which the settlers used as a trash receptacle after the water dried up. It was mezmerizing to stand there and watch archeologists work, and listen to their enthusiastic descriptions of the project.
