We've only seen Jennifer a few times since the Bistri moved back to Ohio in 1989 but the special ties we share will last forever. Look at the expression on that little scamp's face! She was a ball of fire! Her mother, Martha, was, and remains, one of my best friends ("north of 1960,") her dad, Richie, is much cuter than Bruce Springstein (of whom Martha said he reminds her,) and her sister, Stephanie, was and is easy going and lovely. Jennifer was David's first best friend and they got into all kinds of trouble together. Most notably, the day they nearly drowned when they slid down the muddy slope into a drainage ditch as Martha and I sat at her kitchen table, oblivious, eating chocolate chip cookies and talking. Steph has just graduated from college and Jennifer has already completed an amazing experience with the Peace Corps in Africa. My thoughts are with the Bistri today. I wish them all the best.
