To Buy or Not to Buy. That is the question.

At local antique mall. Set of 8 dinner plates and 5 demitasse cups and saucers. Marked Sevres, Chateau les Tuileries, 1844. $320. Love them. Don't need them. Might be satisfied to own the photo. Cherubs are handpainted. Reminds me of ceilings in Versailles. Has crown and Louis-Philippe monogram. Almost feels like family china. That part is 'cause I'm half crazy. On hold at antique mall. Help, I need somebody! Tell me what to do.

This is too good to be true Madame! Buy it!

One of my dearest friends, Celeste, is a good friend of Princess Diana de Orleans et Braganza, wife of the Duke of Wurttemberg.

Princess Diana is the daughter of the late Comte de Paris and thus a direct descendant of Louis-Philippe.

The Duke of Wurttemberg was the Axel Fersen of the 2Oth century in his youth, and the arranged candidate for the hand of Princess Helene, the oldest daughter of the Comte and Comtesse de Paris.

Can you already guess what happened?
When the dashing Duke came to meet and get engaged with Helene, he saw Diana the dish and the rest of course is history.

Historic to this day, too, is the scandal in international society this romance caused.

The Duke is no longer young, but he still is very handsome and he still worships his wife.
I bought it! You were so persuasive, La Jeune Captive! Thank you for your interesting story that will add a new dimension to my beautiful old china... I found a couple of online photos of the Duke and Duchess Diane. One of them is of the couple on the Duchess' 60th birthday in which her bright blue eyes are remarkable and the fabric of her dress luscious! As always, thank you for your comment.
