Happy Birthday to Bill!

Insightful, precious, gentle soul, heart of gold... those are the words Katherine used to describe Bill in a phone call with me today. The two of them had been birthday shopping for him, and to lunch afterwards, and she was even more happy than usual after a trip to Kohl's! Bill returned to Jerry's and Mona's today and I know this will be a great birthday for him. He has surely enjoyed the love and hospitality of Jerry and Mona, Don and Mary, and Katherine and Mike and they are glad to be close, to be able to be there for him. Katherine was right. He is all of those things and I love him and wish him a very happy birthday!

Mal, you are doing a great service to the family. This is a very nice gift to Billy. I loved the pictures you picked, especially the first one. His comment was, "Mal always picks the pensive ones." I told him that was a good thing. MOna is out getting his cake and a couple of more presents. He has several packages from you all. I also loved Katherine's story of shopping and lunch with him yesterday. That Katherine and Michael are all over the place. Due to my MIA prostate sequaelia, poor Mike had to stand in for me as my son, Ben the Magnificent, got sworn into VMI an consigned to Hell Week, which he is suffering as we speak. Appropo of that Bill has slipped into nap number one for the day. Later we will go to the beach with a camera, as per his request. Love to all of you. And get off your asses and figure out how to do these posts. You have to go into a log in process that would challenge a spook but it is worth it. You can do it too James. Love Jer

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY OLD FRIEND BILL !!!! I say friend because Bill is much more than a nephew to me, much more...As Bill knows, he and I go way back, I mean way back...LOL !!!! Bill is the poet in our family...But more than that, Bill is our heart of gold...I think it was Neil Young who sang "Heart of Gold"...He sang he was searching or a heart of gold...Well, all you folks in our wonderful family, please know that we have found our own heart of gold, in the person of my good friend Bill...I love you, Bill !!!! Well folks, it looks like I repeated my birthday greeting to Bill on the blog...But maybe it needed repeating..LOL !!!! Like Jerry lll said, blogging is not easy, especially the first time...It was so good to see Jerry #3 posting on Madeleines wonderful blog...You other family members can do it too...If I and Jerry #3 can do it, you too can certainly do it...In fact, as your crazy uncle, I must warn you that, if you don't get on Madeleine's blog soon, I may be calling you at midnight to remind you...Seriously, Madeleine's blog is one of the best things our family has done...I sincerely love all the pictures and the stories of all of you...Thank you so much, Madeleine...Love to all of you, your uncle Leo ( or like Bill has called me, "UNC" or was it "UNK" ???

I remember hearing a lot about Leo, little Leo and Rosie and the rest of the family spending a lot of time with Bill in Mobile. Uncle Leo speaks his name with a deep affection that makes me happy!

Madeleine, I haven't accomplished much in my life, probably because of being lazy and laid back, but I have decided that I am a pretty good "encourager"...When I see someone doing something worthwhile, I encourage them, and sit back and sometimes see great things happen, like your blog...I feel good about encouraging you with your blog...It makes me very happy and grateful to be in touch with you and your family, like I should be...Please keep your blog going, our family desparately needs it...In the spirit of the current olympics, I award you the GOLD MEDAL for WORLD'S BEST BLOG SITE OF 2008 !!!! Even though, on the surface, "everyone already knew I was the smartest" may not seem like the very most hilarious remark to the uninformed, I can picture you saying it, smirking in the way only you can, and it makes me laugh aloud. I LOVE to read y'alls emails - so funny and well-phrased and dead on - and the blog will be so much better with your participation. It enhances the site so much to have interaction and input. Jerry #3 !!!! It is so good to join Madeleine in welcoming you to our blog...I like to think of it as our family's blog...I am happy also to learn from Mal that your prostate ordeal went well...I tell my four boys and myself how important it is to take a PSA test once in a while...As your uncle Peyton told me a few times, we Dentons have bad blood...I'm not sure what exactly he was trying to tell me...I laugh about it sometimes...I keep telling Madeleine that I have some very funny family pictures to share on the blog to bring back some happy old memories...I'll be sending some soon, maybe one at a time...Love to all, uncle Leo
